DESCRIPTION: Black Betty is the social type. She’ll put on her dancing shoes and drag you right out of your shell. This talkative strain is all thanks to the hard work of Super Dutch Genetics and delivers on the big three desirables: flavor, effects, and potency. This cross between AK-47 and East Coast Sour Diesel can be found almost anywhere but it’s a fan favorite in its homeland of the Netherlands and for good reason.
With something called Black Betty you might think she’d be sweet, but I assure you there’s no sweetness here. Though there are some hints of sugar on the nose, the flavors are all sour diesel and pungent muskiness. These flavors and aromas linger long after the smoke is gone, which for some is just the cherry on top. With THC levels scoring well above 26% on the top end and at a low of 18%, these crystallized, light green buds offer one heck of a high. Pair that with 4% CBD and you’ll want to slap a pair of heels on Ms. Betty and take her everywhere you go.
The high is not in any way recommended for beginners. This is a one-two punch that throws you for a loop after just a couple of puffs. The high begins squarely between the eyes, relieving pressure, and soothing down stress. As it makes its way to your limbs and core, down the neck and into the spine, you start to feel that intense body buzz expected from any offshoot of AK-47. The energy hits, but only just so as the strong indica tendencies take over, leaving users euphoric but weighted, and nearly unable to coordinate their body with their thoughts. Even if you are a seasoned vet, Black Betty will still pull one over on you if you aren’t careful, so proceed with caution. This temptress doesn’t play!
As with most well-balanced blends, Black Betty is energetic at times but gives way to the full body calm the indica provides. Because of these effects, this strain is a nighttime gal best for the treatment of pain, muscle spasms, inflammation, joint aches, and cramps. Additionally, it is helpful with mood disorders such as stress, depression, and bipolar. It is not recommended for those who suffer from anxiety or paranoia as this strain has the habit of agitating those conditions.
Though we wouldn’t exactly describe this as an easy plant, Black Betty does tend to lean toward a pleasant grow. Flowering in 8 to 9 weeks indoors or late September to early October for outdoor cultivation, this strain offers an above average yield, bordering on abundant, for either scenario. Because of her bloom, many find her even more of a temptress than she already was and understandably so.
Black Betty is the strong independent woman you didn’t know you needed. She’ll pull you in, seduce you, and spit you back out feeling calm and pain-free, but deeply stupefied. Enjoy her robust flavors with a lemon or berry blunt wrap to get the most out of her palette. Novice users be warned: this is a heavy high that doesn’t quit, so it might be best to leave it to the experts.
